Building another NAS - board I'm using only has 4 SATA ports. Needing a cheap SATA HBA I can chuck in to give me at least another 1 sata port..

Needs to be able to supply the drives as is directly to the OS, as I'll be using ZFS, and not relying on the HBA to perform any level of raid.

Having trouble finding anything in NZ at a reasonable price.. Anyone have one they are looking to part with?

Are you running Linux or FreeBSD?

I've had issues with some of the Marvell chipset simple 4 port units - been trying to get one working for years.

Mine is a Marvell 88SE9230 Controller - and I've tried tricks like updating the firmware etc.

I've got some Lenovo branded LSI raid controllers floating around without back panels.

Happy to part with one for a box of beers type price?

If you are interested I'll go dig the box out and confirm the exact spec, but I'm pretty sure from memory they are one of the SAS 2008 variants that can be reflashed.

Running Linux now. That's a shame, didn't know they could be such a pain to use..

That'd be great thanks! If you could dig one out, and let me know the model so I can confirm it'll work for my plans, that'd be great.

Unfortunately I'm only here until 10th June - so i'd need the card before then.. Didn't want to order internationally, because shipping can take ages..

I have one of the Startech raid cards in my Unraid server - can be configured in BIOS as just an HBA with no raid.

The one I've got a several of is an IBM BR10i which is an OEM LSI SAS3082E-R which is based on LSI1068E chipset. All with no backpanel.

I've also got 1x ServeRaid M1015 46M0861 which is SAS 2008, again with no backpanel.

I may have some more floating around, I can look if neither of those is useful.
