How cheap? :)
We've got a one that I bought from DSE about a year ago that is not being used anymore due to now having a fax with one built in.

Switch to XNet VFX and you get an answering machine, call forwarding, call divert, and lots of other features for free. If you go naked DSL then you will save money.

Cordless phone with answering machine at DSE is $60.

TradeMe has one listed for $8 ($10 buy-now):

If your budget is around $60. I bought a Uniden 2035+1 at Harvey N's last week (because I wanted an answering machine). So for $68 got 2 dect handsets as well. A single unit was a few dollars less.

We have one bought from Dick Smith (think it's DSE branded) years ago. Pretty sure it still works, although the formerly white plastic is now yellow.

I'd gladly sell it for $20 (I'm in Auckland).

Unfortunately Xnet isnt on the top of my choice of ISPs and its VFX still reqs a monthly fee for those services - hence why Im looking for an answering machine, get rid of fees :) Only need answerphone, we dont use any of the other features from our current provider.

Also id have to buy an ATA which is another cost........ did have one but got told by Xnet rep that it wasnt useable. So I sold it.  Then few months later, Xnet open the gates and say use what you want.... frustrating :)

Weve already got 3 matching DECT phones, so dont need another handset at the moment ;)

Thanks :)
