Niel: Switch to XNet VFX and you get an answering machine, call forwarding, call divert, and lots of other features for free. If you go naked DSL then you will save money.
Cordless phone with answering machine at DSE is $60.

oxnsox: If your budget is around $60. I bought a Uniden 2035+1 at Harvey N's last week (because I wanted an answering machine). So for $68 got 2 dect handsets as well. A single unit was a few dollars less.
