I've just dug out an old-ish GPS unit that did me proud in both NZ, Australia and the USA.

The unit runs Win CE, is loaded with igo8 maps and from memory it must be around 7 or 8 years old.

Is there an easy way to update and add igo8 maps, or is there freeware maps than can be easily loaded/used with a Win CE unit?

Have you tried their update site at naviextras.com?

Yeah, but I've no idea what make/brand this unit is, and also one could buy a brand new unit for the price they want for a single map !

Many of those cheap old winCE based ones use pirated maps in anycase so no updates are available.

Really?  What about a fresh install of maps?  Presumably WinCE allows makes other than igo ?

Sure, but it works fine for 3 countries I regularly visit, and would have been nice to update them, as well as add another country.

Since the unit works well, I just thought there may be other options ... a bit like having an old laptop where a Linux distro works well in place of an ailing Win XP sealed
