Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster here.
I have been an Orcon customer for the past 8 years, their service has been pretty decent. However...
I have requested for a house move and I was told that my new VDSL connection should be up by Monday the 14th (was using ADSL at old place). Nothing happened, so I rang up only to find out that there are no ports available in Albany, and I will have to wait until someone moves out of the region to free up a port.
My reaction was WTF? I thought the whole cabinetisation (sp?) that happened a few years back was supposed to solve the problem?
Anyway, I called back and spoke with another chap who suggested that I should stay on ADSL instead of VDSL as they can probably get me onto ADSL much quicker than VDSL. So I agreed. But today, got a call back from the same chap to say that there is nothing they can do as there are no ADSL ports available neither. At least this time they kept me informed.
Anyway, the question I'd like to ask, is is the ports limitation common to all ISPs? Will another ISP be able to get me connected sooner than Orcon can? Or will I just have to wait indefinitely until enough people move out of the region?
Cheers.
