Jul: ...Marketing are cooking up some tasty plans. It's being trialled and will be announced soon...

Aug: ...VDSL is coming soon, routers should be here in Oct...

Sep: ...Had a chat with marketing. Earlier November release...

Oct: ...Routers should hopefully arrive this month. Hope plans are rolled out in November...

Oct: ...On track for early next month...

Nov: ...Sorry no word yet, email us to be the first in the know...

don't know why they keep talking to marketing. It's the product managers who will have the most influence on the technical side of it.

Marketing just do the colouring in and decide on what cool name to call the new plans.

Hi Guys, got some word from the chaps downstairs:

We are working through the last of the VDSL and Fibre queries today, had a ton of them so just taking a day or two longer than we initially thought.

In the meantime, here are some answers to common questions we received.

If I upgrade to VDSL, can I switch between ADSL and VDSL in the future?
If you upgrade to VDSL you can change between any of our VDSL plans without penalty. However you cannot switch back to ADSL without penalty.

Will you provide Rollover Data with VDSL and Fibre?
Yes, we will provide Rollover Data with all VDSL and Fibre plans. Any data you don’t use in month will rollover into the next, and won’t expire for a full year.

What kind of price will VDSL be?
At this stage our VDSL plans will replicate our BIG Bundle (www.slingshot.co.nz/bundles) with a slight price premium of around $15 for each. Could be slightly more for Unlimited Plans due to the amount of data people tend to consume.

What kind of prices will Fibre be?
We are still working on finalising the pricing for Fibre, but the entry level fibre plans will be around the same price as current Broadband plans. Obviously the premium Fibre plans will cost a bit more, but they definitely be some of the most competitive in the market.

Will there be a contract term?
Yes 12 month term for VDSL

Will I have to buy a new VDSL modem?
Most ADSL modems are not compatible with VDSL. Slingshot will be heavily subsidising a VDSL modem for you.

Will I need a VDSL Mastersplitter and how much will it be?
Slingshot will provide a Free VDSL Mastersplitter and Master Jackpoint installation with all VDSL plans.

To make sure the user experience is flawless on VDSL and Fibre, we will be launching with the bundles first to make sure there are no issues for our customers. If the launch goes smoothly we will add Naked plans very soon afterwards.

Was more than originally indicated in earlier posts.
Also was one of the first to email in, yet have not had a reply.

I think I will probably pass.

Was aiming for a package of POTS + VDSL unlimited for $120.
Considering our usage is under 500 GB and Telecom's VDSL + POTS 500 GB package is $129, I thought it would be on the mark.

Will just stay on ADSL2+ likely.

even if they do charge more than $15 extra for the VDSL on unlimited, its not likely to be more than telecom charge me thinks.

you might even get your wish of $120, that's what i think they will do.

pure speculation here, i didn't get any juicy details in my email that i hadn't read here.

We pay $111 for POTS + ADSL2+ AYCE currently.

Suppose the new cost is calculated at the minimum...

109 + 15 = $124. (If current unlimited plan only has $15 added)

The post by Chris clearly indicates they are looking at considering the cost a bit further for unlimited.
Also back in August they stated $10 increase, so this outcome could be quite a bit more than originally stated.

Its fine and all, I suppose some people are willing to pay more and thats fine.
I am on a budget as have other things to pay for, so only willing to spend so much.
