Makoura:
Actually it's UFF who haven't been able to answer. But you seem happy to make fun of me so hey run with that I'm sure it'll make you feel better.
Its not making fun of you, more of a premonition of future posts on Geekzone...

I'm making the same move, Trustpowers recent onboarding of customers ( I read they have gotten 25% of new signups in the last 6 months - or something to that effect ) has really affected performance of late.
Everyone I have spoken to with MyRepublic, who are a range of users to a household who browse, to a hard-core (my words) gamer, to a heavy streamer ( netflix, lightbox, not-so-ligit streams ) and none have noted the issues that the TrueNet data suggests.
I'll be contacting TrueNet once my connection has moved across and talk with them about installing their gear on my network and seeing how its goes.

I stopped reading as soon as I saw 'UFF' mentioned.
They are just seem seriously incompetent of doing smooth UFB churns. Chorus/Enable churns go off without a hitch. But UFF seem to mess it up on a regular basis. Just yesterday actually I had a UFF customer churning and the connection was down for around an hour while I assume they were re-configuring their abacus'.

Why would anyone actually move to MyRepublic is my question...
Hmmm...... I'm with VF ADSL, and was looking forward to upgrading to VF fibre next month, but maybe I should start curbing my enthusiasm right now.
Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!
Hi Makoura,
The only reason why we would dispatch a tech to transfer a UFB connection is if Trustpower's Fibre configuration is different to ours. In particular, an example of a difference is we run voice off the ONT rather than off the router or baseband ip. If you would like to PM your C10 account number we can check this.
In regards to the True Net testing, we are aware the commerce commission will be going out to tender for a new supplier and we're reviewing the validate of these results and our handovers. We're committed to providing the best Fibre experience for our customers.

Ok so I'm moving to myRepublic. I've had Trustpower Fibre for three years and liked the myRepublic service so decided to change. Anyway so now I have to wait for UFF to come to my house and change over and be there for a 2hr changeover. My question is what are they going to do at my house for a two hour changeover? In fact why do I need to be there at all?
It seems the process for changing Fibre companies is overcomplicated vs changing V/ADSL.

I know many people who have had performance issues in Wellington and have moved away to a larger ISP. Also the claims on their website are misleading (We buy more bandwidth per user than any other national ISP being a major one). Plenty of threads on both Geekzone and GPForums with people complaining about shoddy performance and service. The service is also the same price as Spark and 2degrees (who offer public IP's as a standard and notably better speeds). If you're wanting to join remember it is normally a 24mo contract or a no-term contract with a $99 install fee and you have to add $40 for an IP that is not on a CG-NAT.
Hence the question "why would anyone move" - it is expensive, they use marketing jargon as a main selling point and to be honest it simply isn't good broadband. I speak from experience. If you're wanting a good provider who doesn't contract you in and offers great speed and support then link in my signature. Gamers often don't understand 90% of the jargon on their site, what CG-NAT is etc and will buy anything with the word "Gamer" in it because they want to be the most hardcore however it has been proven time and time again this is pure marketing. Picking a provider with good international routes (Spark, 2degrees, BigPipe) is what you'd want if you're a gamer or generally want good performance.
