As I've previously said on here disabling IPv6 should never be an option. For troubleshooting, sure, but it isn't a fix and shouldn't ever be suggested as one.

Instead, I think logging a fault is a good start - IPv6 is production grade still and should perform the same as IPv4 (noting also it is enabled by default with all customers). Digging into it deeper with "Stats for nerds" to determine what YouTube cache you're connecting to could help too in order to see if this is a common trend with everyone here.

Disabling IPv6 has worked for me, however I will log a fault on Monday. I use youtube quite a lot and its always through my android box connected to my tv.

Logged a fault this morning and was told it seemed to be an issue with Fritzbox not having right settings and was told to do the following which seemed to correct the issue.

"Power cycle modem - unplug power supply from back of modem and your fiber box, also remove the ethernet cable that connects the LAN1 port on your 2degrees modem to lan1 or ge1 on your fiber box. Time for 1min and after that, only power on your fiber box and nothing else. Wait for 1 more min and then power on your 2degrees modem. As soon as the 2degrees modem is powered on, connect the ethernet cable from LAN1 port on your modem to LAN1/GE1 on your fiber box. Ideally the power, wlan, and info. lights should all be solid green."

Doing the above exactly as written fixed my issue. They also provided another option for full manual cong. Message me if you need this.

cheers

Mine came right sometime Sunday. Haven’t changed any settings etc, just came right by itself.

Just seeing if holds, so far is.

I switched IPv6 back on to check and it seems to be back to normal for me too without otherwise changing anything. Not sure what the issue was but glad it has fixed itself

Are you folks with problems using AdBlockers?

No ad blocker here. I pay for premium so no need.

Don’t think it was that as when changed to mobile data it ran without buffering. Was only buffering, freezing on wifi. All other streaming services were/are working fine on wifi.

If it was that, YouTube targeted the wrong people. Did it to ones not running Adblock.

It came right by itself about Sunday a week ago, and has been going good since.

No

Android box connected to TV. Its all been sorted now and I expect 2 degrees had read these forums and corrected the issue.

It's stupid though as it is a game of whack a mole. YouTube has already made ad blockers better: https://www.androidauthority.com/youtube-ad-block-installs-3382289/

This will just make them better again.

I think it’s a widespread issue as there are lots of complaints popping up over the world. Seems to have started 2 months back and it happens to me too. I believe it’s app related as accessing YT via a browser causes no issues.

the same thing happened with YouTube a couple years back and was fixed with a software update so I’m wondering if it’s the same.

I’ve been having issues with the YouTube app on any device for a couple of months now.. Nvidia Shield, Apple TV 4K x 2, LG TV, IPhone. I’m on Spark so not ipv6 related.

It’s only certain 4K videos not all, happens on VPN too so unlikely to be a Spark issue

Zero issues watching those same videos that buffer on apps in a browser.. almost feels like they’re rate limiting it

Are you saying you are not seeing that it is fixed?

Seems fixed for the rest of us.

The two are not linked given I’m not on 2degrees so in hindsight probably not a helpful post, but I’ve just had issues with any YouTube app on multiple platforms despite no changes happening with my network setup. I only mentioned it given GSManiac’s comment re widespread issues

The only thing I haven’t done is rule out the EdgeRouter as the issue but I can’t be bothered given it’s not all 4K content, browser YouTube is fine, 4K Disney/Netflix/AppleTV are all fine too.

Ironically if i sign out of the app and play the same problematic videos at 4K, no buffering happens either so I'm kind of leaning towards a YouTube app bug..
