I just tried to do this and got told it’s only for new customers and if I wanted it I need to cancel my account and resign-up? Did you guys have to do the same?

@BlackHand - not at all, as posted previously.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I would have assumed it to be less hassle for the telco to give out the deal to off-contract clients rather than have to deal with a reconnection.

Lock you in for 12 months, then when that ends you're back paying $106 per month and too spoilt with that speed to want to go back down to 100/20

Yeah, but again they get more $$ if you don't do anything about it and keep paying the old higher charge.

With my dealings with the 2deg it's a lucky dip how they'd respond. I've had all of them:

  • Sure have all the perks as a new customer
  • Have some of the perks
  • Hard no

Last time it was hard no which resulted in a churn to another provider.

@Resnick:

I am on an open term contract. I have just got off the phone with customer care after being told that this applied to new customers only and I would have to disconnect and rejoin in order to get the new deal.

@morganbrowne can clarify if this is the case? Some people managed to get the new price when re-signing, others didn't.

Sorry for late reply - if anyone is out of contract and wants to resign to this offer, our call centre staff should be able to do this for them, so just give us a call :)

That seems to be the right way to do it. The way I read the messaging on the 2degrees site you get the deal for a 12 month contract. And your message now seems to confirm my reading of it.

If it was not the case, it should have some wording on it that states that it is only for new customers.

Seems the call centre is confused about this though. As a 2degrees customer currently on a contract that is about to expire, it would be good to know I have the option of signing up to a new 12 month contract when the current one lapses, without having to call 2degrees repeatedly to get the deal (or switching to another ISP).

I keep hitting the "Sorry new customers only" even when I call up. Even though escalation to managers. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'd move if it wasn't for the fact that my static IP (which I've had for 8 years now) is in so many firewalls etc it would be a massive inconvenience to switch to another provider.

@morganbrowne are you able to tell us what we should do to get to sign up for a new 12 month contract with the new price?

From what's being posted there seems to be some inconsistency. I phoned 0800 022022 Option 9 then Option 4. Validated who I was with the CSR and it was all done in a couple of minutes. No issues at all.
