Hi that message is a joke really as I rang up and wasn't even offered anything so I already made the change to snap.net.nz and is much faster than ADSL I would say slingshot will be losing a lot of customers without giving customers the option of vdsl2 :( shame really was a good isp for price

Yeah with VDSL2 plan prices from other ISPs starting to become more competitive it's getting tempting to switch. And with Chorus's drop in the wholesale price, it seems a great time for Singshot to enter the market. Plus with Orcon and perhaps Compass still not offering VDSL, the other ISPs with generally the most competitive prices in recent times, Slingshot should try and get in first!

Fibre may be the future, but for many VDSL2 is available right now compared to years away for fibre.

I’m checking the news every day for SS VDSL2.

VDSL2 + AYCE & POTS bundle for a decent price (hopefully not too much more than current AYCE bundle) and you have a customer.  :)

(Waves hand at SS offering to join the pilot for their VDSL product)

Naked all you can eat VDSL would do it for me. If I hadn't just changed to naked ADSL and getting a 12 month term as a result

I caved on Wednesday night and joined Snap VDSL. Slingshot have been great but we don't use as much data as we used to and now we can get faster speeds on Snap for only a small increase in price. Hopefully with Snap we get a more stable connection than we did on Slingshots Unlimited plan which used to slow down markedly in the evening.

Any update on the VDSL plans at all?

Do you need to be within a certain area/range from the nearest exchange to receive VDSL?

Chorus typically want <10.8db attenuation, which is roughly 700m cable run from the cabinet. There are some exceptions, though.

When you say cabinet, are the cabinets generally above ground or do they exist below ground set into approximately a 2m x 1m area?
