Thanks to @morganbrowne for organising one of the customer care team to ring me.
All sorted and on the new deal!

That was seamless once I was chatting with the right person.

I was on an open term contract and was initially told that I have to disconnect and reconnect to get this promo.

I told them it was a hassle for me and for 2Degrees to go through that process so I asked if I could be locked into a new 12-months contract.  Request was approved after putting me on hold for 3 minutes maybe after consulting with supervisor.   I was told the speed would take effect 10 to 15 days as the chorus guys will need to configure it on their end.

They didn't tell me that my free static IP will be removed so I would assume I will still have that service for free.

Where you on the 900/400 plan before? Otherwise there is no need for Chorus to make any changes. Its simply a billing change.

No I wasn't.  In that case,  I'll do a speedtest tonight when I get home to see if my account's been updated.

If you werent on the 900/400 plan before then it does require Chorus to make a provisioning change to move you to this new speed profile. That might take a few days.

Having read thru this thread and currently being outside of contract, I still can’t determine if this is available for existing open term customers?

Seems a very messy and poorly thought out process for existing customers to be given different info when they call as to whether they are eligible or not.

I can’t make sense of why if an exisiting customer is prepared to re sign for 12 months, why they can’t get the same price as a new customer and receive 12 months of Amazon prime video also.
Are 2Degrees actually encouraging their existing open term customers to look elsewhere as that’s the impression this promo gives.

@morganbrowne - please do let us know once you’ve heard back re whether free Prime is included for those of us who have had it as part of a previous contract.

If it’s not included, then this sure does need to be clearly specified, and not buried in the T&Cs. I’d also like to know either way before I make the call to request the deal, just in case it’s another thing CSRs aren’t consistent over!

Many thanks.

Just checking in, @morganbrowne, whether you’re yet able to confirm the status of another 12 months of free Prime for those of us who have had the same prior?

Read this post: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=273130&page_no=4#2536087 - it’s clear those previously under contract but no longer are able to sign up, at least with the assistance of this 2D staff member. Whether the CSRs are still saying this isn’t allowed isn’t clear, and we’re still awaiting a response re Prime availability, as per my message above.

@gmball You can't of read it very well then!

An official 2degrees staff member has made it very clear and is also offering support via DM if you are having trouble getting onto the offer

Surely you should be able to access this by phoning? Seems very odd to have to DM a member of 2Degrees via Geekzone to access a deal?

Thats what I read, that multiple people were phoning and receiving a different response.

Unfortunately it’s not unusual for CSRs to not always get things right, and this is clearly an example of this. Yep, it’s not a desirable situation, but at least we have been given an easy avenue to have it addressed, so really I don’t see it as a big problem. That the last post of someone saying they got told they couldn’t get the deal is from the 8th it hopefully does indicate it’s been sorted.

Still keen on knowing about Prime though!

My update to 900/400 was completed last night only a few days since moving from Open Plan and well before my billing date.

For those asking about another free year of Amazon Prime it was explained to me when I requested it that it's part of the agreement between Amazon and 2 Degrees that it's once per customer.

Thanks, @morganbrowne, for confirming that - not too surprised with this, but I think it would be appropriate if 2D added an additional line to its sign-up T&Cs related to Prime to make it clear that it's a 'one-time only' deal; I don't read the current wording as covering this (copied below). Also, what if I had moved RSPs after my contract ended, having had Prime as part of my previous contract with 2D: if I switched back would I still not be entitled? (Doesn't apply to me, but I think clarity on such common scenarios is useful.)

Amazon Prime Video on Us for 1 year:

  *   You must be on a 12 month unlimited broadband plan to be eligible.
  *   Amazon Prime Video on us for a year is valid for 12 months after the date of activation.

  *   One new Prime Video subscription per eligible 2degrees broadband plan connection.
  *   If you have an existing Prime Video subscription, you’ll just need to cancel this and start again with a new account to get the offer.
  *   Streaming Prime Video uses data. Any data use incurred from watching Prime Video will count towards your monthly broadband allowance.
  *   You can cancel your Prime Video subscription at any time.
  *   Early termination charge applies if you disconnect your 2degrees broadband before the end of your broadband term.
  *   If you want to keep enjoying Prime Video after your year on us is up, your Prime Video charge will automatically be applied to your 2degrees broadband bill.
  *   After 12 months from your activation of Prime Video, the standard monthly charge for Prime Video of $8.99 will apply.
  *   Customer queries relating to the Prime Video service or content should be directed to Prime Video.
  *   Not available on 2degrees Business plans.
  *   Offer is not redeemable or refundable for cash and cannot be exchanged for Amazon Gift Cards.
  *   Offer is subject to change and restrictions apply.
