Im not sure why im trying so hard to give slingshot my money for fibre, Orcon will take my money and so will telecom. I am an existing adsl subscriber and I have had a great service so far.

However slingshot's system seems to be oblivious to several locations around Tauranga having fibre installed. When trying to sign up on their website I'm told that fibre in not available in my area when is been available since August last year. Other providers such as Orcon and telecom are ready to have me sign up and their site detects that UFB is available for me.

I have tried their web support, the standard response is (copied from email)
"Unfortunately Slingshot does not have access to UFB cables to your address which is why we cannot supply you with the Fibre service. In this case there are only certain providers who ca use those lines and unfortunately we are not one of them it is negative as a service we can proviode you.I have double checked that street address also, the website would be going off the same database that shows us we cannot provide you with fibre."

I'm not the only one with this problem as someone else in my office has tried and had long conversations which have gone something like... (as relayed to me)

S: Sorry we cannot provide you fibre
C: But you can provide fibre to the same locations as telecom, in fact im told you buy your fibre service from telecom
S: Yes
C: and telecom can supply me but you can't, can you please recheck.
S: Yes, we can supply you, please let me transfer you endlessly around the building till you give up.

So why the rant, no one in slingshot seems to be catching on that there is a problem with the system that detects if an address had UFB or not and I know i'm not the only one.
I understand there is someone from slingshot who views these forms, so message me and ill will provide you with our addresses so you have have some examples to diagnose what going wrong.

Each ISP needs to install equipment in each city or town - it seems that Slingshot doesn't have any in Tauranga as this list doesn't contain Slingshot.

FletchNZ: Oh well, my understand is that slingshot rents gear from Telecom, so where ever Telecom is slingshot is.
I guess ill give up and go to another provider.

Totally incorrect.

Slingshot (and every other ISP) wholesale services from Chorus (which is not Spark/Telecom) and each of the LFCs that are deploying fibre in different areas. Spark/Telecom also have nothing at all to do with Chorus.

Chorus are not the LFC in Tauranga and have nothing to do with the rollout there, UFF are the LFC there. Slingshot do not yet chosen to deploy equipment into Tauranga and offer services over UFF in this area.
