So today i checked the handy Chorus website and as of today fibre is now ready on my street!

I upgraded my plan on Slingshot My Account from ADSL to Fibre. Has anyone done this process yet? (online - not calling)

I just wanted to know how long the process takes? I live in a standalone house that is not a shared driveway so I assume this will take a chunk out of the process as there is no need for consents etc.

They also offer a "rental" modem. Does this mean it costs after 12 months? Can I use my own Fibre capable modem? (HG659)

How long it takes will depend on how busy things are in your area - with no specific consenting required it'll hopefully only take a couple of weeks, but that's certainly not a guarantee.

Chorus will install an ONT (the fibre equivalent of a modem) and there is no extra charge for this. You will require a separate router if you're using more than one computer, and while I'm not familiar with the HG659 I believe it'll work for data. Voice can be trickier - are you signing up for a fibre landline?

Hello,

The order will go into 'Scoping' So a tech from your local installer will be out and will plan the install with you. Connection timeframes vary depending on the work needed (not requiring neighbour consent will definitely speed things up) and the tech availability in your area. If you message through your account umber I can give you a better idea of timeframes.

You won't ever have to pay for your modem. Just means that if you were to cancel we would post out a return courier bag

Cheers
