Hi folks, just signed up to have fibre installed and I am assuming that they supply a Fritzbox 7490?
I have a Netgear Nighthawk 7800 which is fibre capable so I guess that will work with their service?? We also have to have our landline cut and switched to VOIP so any recomendations on a handset that would work with the Nighthawk or Fritz. Many thanks.

No you can't use your phone with a D-Link Cobra, or any other router infact apart from the Fritz!box.

Expecting a single router or AP to deliver good coverage in a large 2 story house is an unrealistic expectation, regardless of the brand of router or AP you have. You really need to be looking at options for a standalone access point to complement the Fritzbox.

Why dont you get yourself another 7490 or later model fritzbox and set it to mesh mode to help improve your wifi coverage. When you do your renos you can run your cat6 wire to have the backhaul via a wired connection
