Anyone else see this pattern on their statistics? It seems like the errors skyrockets in the peak hours (and for some reason at night).

Yup, I see an increase at night too. Not sure I would call it skyrocketing, though I have seen real skyrocketing errors in the past. :)

A while back I suddenly noticed massive increases in errors (to ~7000 per hour) around 5:30pm that continued fairly consistently through to 7:00am the next morning. After much head scratching, checking things in the house, and dropping 2(or was it 3?) DLM levels, I took a walk up and down our street and noticed a street light flickering and buzzing just 2 houses down. Sure enough when I started taking note of when the street lamps came on and went off it was around 5:30pm and off around 7am.

I rang the council and reported it and a few days later the light was fixed. Lo' and behold my error rates plummeted at night. Within a month or so I was back on DLM1.

With the error rates you're seeing though I wouldn't worry about it.

EDIT: This was a sample of what I saw with the failing street light:

Free data 1am to 7am could explain the night time errors - all the torrenters starting up. Or is that just on UFB?

definitely, 8pm looks to be a common one for ya. the lack of errors round about 1 makes drawing conclusions a bit hard though!

These errors are on the PHY layer.

Yes as sbiddle says these are layer 1 errors across your DSL, just at a quick guess I'd say that it is likely to be as usage increases in peak times you may be seeing a low level of interference from other lines in the same cable bundle causing the errors, in this case there is not much that can be done - but we will stick the analyser on your line and see if we can see anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks,
TheRalph

Coffeebaron: I did try to set "Identification of radio frequency interference (RFI)" a step to the left (so towards "maximum stability" but can't say I saw much improvement from it.

These stats are from running on "Maximum performance" on all the DSL line settings.

I have a Fritzbox 7360, running FRITZ!OS 05.51. I saw someone mention that there might be some issues with that firmware version, but I am not sure which one would be the right one to choose (or where to really find it - although I did look). I am guessing I shouldn't use the 7390 firmware?

Now you have. This box is from Snap and was one of the two choices of router from Snap when I signed up. Just to make 100% sure I also checked what it says on the box (as well as what it calls itself in the admin menu).
