From my time with Orcon as my main ISP, I have a lifetime email account with them that I still use as my primary email account.
I am finally taking the plunge of purchasing a domain and getting hosted Exchange email through Microsoft.

Without hanging on the phone for 'hours' can anyone tell me if it is possible to get my Orcon emails automatically forward to my new hosted Exchange account (when set up).

Exchange server doesn't support it natively.

I think the simplest way to do it would be to use gmail to check the orcon account, then forward it on to the exchange address.

Lol wut?

It's easy, just setup your Orcon address to forward to your new Exchange email address.

You will want to setup the forwarding from inside your webmail.

Normally under settings in most webmail programs.

Don't try setup forwarders from your email application.

No need to be a smug prat about it Zeon.

At least give nzkiwiman the full directions if you do know how. Forwarding via gmail was what came to mind first.

You can configure rule based forwarding of your @orcon address via your "My Orcon" page. Forwarding is not found within the webmail client settings.

I'm sorry but I cannot provide step by step directions as I don't use Orcon's email system. EMail forwards are extremely standard and I'm sure information can be easily found online.

Going via Gmail is another link in the chain that could break....

Just add as connected account in office 365 and it will collect the Orcon mail automatically.

Thanks for the comments team

Last night I set up my custom domain just using the free Outlook.com platform rather than paying for hosting using Microsofts Exchange plan or going one step further and purchasing Office365

Seems that I can add in a send/receive account and in theory get Outlook to contact Orcon and deliver the email to me - with the limit of only once per 30 minutes and only a max of 50 messages.

I'll set this up tonight and see how it goes while I work on removing all the subscriptions and migrating emails

I did try this before I asked, but all I could do was add another email address or change the spam filter settings.
Always possible I was looking in the wrong place though
