I am unable to run ookla speedtest from mine or my wifes Android 2.2 handsets [LG P500] but can from Wifi

Can anyone suggest what the issue is or whether they can run speedtest.net [ookla] from their 2D handset

Have you tried manually setting the test server to something other than the automatically selected site?

Are you connecting to internet without Wi-Fi ok? Is/was 'Data roaming' turned on?

Hi 2D thank you for the reply. Yes data works ok without Wifi. The speedtest issues occurs with roaming off and on.

Are their other ways to do a speedtest not dependant on the android ookla app ? [most websites require java or flash]

Turn on wifi hotspot, and then can use computer to do speed test with.

I have the same phone, have loaded couple web pages using wifi hotspot, just as a test to see how it would go, went well.

I'm only on casual data so cost to much to run a speed test here.

Edit: i'm probably in 2degrees zone, so it's not roaming on Vodafone.

Turned on wifi hotspot that makes no difference. What is odd is I can select the server to test too but get "Network Communication Issues" when I click on on begin test

nono you're supposed to connect to that wifi hotspot with a laptop or something and run the speedtest on that.
