Hi Snap,

I see slingshot has released a service for worldwide streaming services for us here in Nz

There are loads of much better ways to get the same thing without getting your ISP to waste their time on it, and put their business at risk at the same time.

Except unblock-us, UnoTelly etc cost an extra $5-10 per month.
They do, however, offer you the ability to change which region you are viewing Netflix from.

IMO: Snap will watch what the reaction to slingshot is. If it dies down and nothing happens, they might consider it. Otherwise the "grey area" as its described may not be worth their potential legal expense.

For a measly $5 per month, it's well worth it.

Slingshots version of support for global mode is 'go to geekzone'. Whereas unblock-us has comprehensive support,
That's the difference between a free service and a paid service.

Unotelly works out to around 3NZD per month as well with a 12 month subscription and the geekzone special offer code. It would be silly to consider switching to Slingshot for this feature

Unotelly is a great option and is far better than Slingshots global mode.

Unotelly are much more responsive at updating their service when Netflix do more clever stuff. Takes Slingshot longer to sort issues.

I have been using Getflix for a while now on Snap. Works well, has NZ DNS servers, and is cheap!

+1 - while I haven't used the alternatives, Getflix has worked perfectly for me (also on Snap); with the Facebook "like" discount and paying annually it cost me the grand total of $26 - or $2.17 a month. Not even enough for me to contemplate shifting ISPs for (and I'm a total bargain hunter), and I'd certainly need to have other critically useful features to want to spend twice that on one of the other DNS services.

Hi guys

We've got no plans to introduce this service at the moment, but we'll watch with interest as the market changes over the next few months.

As some of you have already pointed out, there are other very cost effective ways of getting a similar service, and hopefully the quality of our network is worth a few dollars a month over the other guys!
