Hi,
I recently purchased a 2 Degrees Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini (from PBtech), and it doesn't want to stay registered on the 2 Degrees network (in New Plymouth).

After approximate 1 minute of registration, it disconnects and says Emergency Calls Only.
I tried all different network modes, and the only one that works and stays registered is GSM only, which is not ideal for data!

Tried restarting, and turning flight mode on and off, but every time in any network mode other than GSM only, the phone stays registered for approx 1 minute, then back to Emergency calls only.

I checked the IMEI number via the tcf.org.nz website lookup, and its not blacklisted.

While I wait for Pbtech to get back to me, does anyone have any idea's?

2 Degrees worked fine where I live, in a previous Samsung i927 device, and wife uses an iPhone 5 on 2 degrees without issue.

Have you tried your wife's SIM or another 2degrees SIM in your phone or popped your SIM into another phone to see it does the same?

We can swap your number over to a free blank SIM if it's playing up. Here's more details - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/help/simcards

PM us your number, name and address if you can't get to any other the stores to get a blank SIM.

Regards
^POB

Might be worth checking the model number to make sure you got the one that supports UMTS 900.

Model number is SM-G800Y, so yes it should support UTMS 900 (it came with the 2 Degrees free bonus sticker on the box, so definitely a 2 degrees device).

I'll be visiting the local 2D store later today to check if I need a replacement sim.

Fixed!

Thanks to the local 2D store, transferred to a new sim, and then the phone worked :)
Old sim must have decided its time was up.
