In the Snap forum purely because they're my ISP...

I've had VDSL installed and I am wondering about the quality of the install. I'm getting 10mbit less than the prequal.

The installer has put the filter in, as expected and run Cat5 into the roof space but has used the exisiting old phone wire to get the feed down from the roof to under the house.
Also that cable runs along with power cables, behind the switchboard and then down under the house...

Excuse the poor image quality. The Moto G has a terrible camera...

Under the house there is another join which then goes into a RJ45 port on the wall by the modem.

Am I right in thinking that it should be Cat5 all the way? Also would the proximity of 240v have any affect?

Thanks!

it should be cat 5e all the way but if its a difficult install like yours sounds like it may not be possible.

The cables should not be run close to 240V cables but if its existing cable then thats not really the ISP's problem, if its a new run then its not acceptable
