So I was looking into changing my plan today thinking that prices may have decreased after 2degree acquiring Snap.

My current plan is Lightwave home 100 unlimited priced at $109.00

The equivalent plan on 2degrees would cost $114.00 which includes 100mbps speed and a landline.

I understand the difference is only $5 extra but still, I would expect at least the same pricing. Not being more expensive.

Because they seem to attach value to being able to have unlimited calls to australia.

Even their basic home line + internet package is $5 more expensive. Assuming due to accounting for $10 2degrees discount thing?

Their prompt payment discount seems to not be advertised but is a nice discount.

I just checked my last bill. The full amount was billed with no prompt payment discount. Mine is by auto debt to me Credit Card. What gives 2D ?

Hey everyone,

With regards to the differences in plans, the new 2degrees Broadband plans are in most cases better value than the old Snap plans, but there are a couple of instances where the Snap plan is a bit cheaper. Existing Snap customers are more than welcome to remain on their old plans if they like.

Like richms says, our voicelines do come with Unlimited calling to NZ and AUS landlines included (unlimited NZ landline calling was an extra $10/month with Snap), plus we do provide a $10/month discount on the broadband plans if you have a 2degrees Pay Monthly plan over $29/month. At the moment we are also offering NEON on us for 6 months for new or existing customers switching to a new 2degrees plan.

Regarding Prompt Payment Discount, this isn't something that we do I'm afraid.

The Unlimited calling is only on Home Phone Plus however correct? As that on Home Phone Basic is an extra $15.

I appreciate your reply, would it be possible to separate unlimited calling to AUS as an add on in the future? Rather then forcing it into the Home Phone Plus Package and charging us for it?

As all I require on my landline is to just make phone calls locally and not to AUS.

As an existing snap customer, I personally place a $0 value on those. We get fibre in a few months, we would have been spending $10 per month less with Snap, now the price will go up $5

Before these plans came out I was thinking of porting one of my 2talk numbers to snap to use the included voip that my plan has, which till now has gone unused, but these new plans put a stop to that idea.

Im giving them another month to come out with something that competes with bigpipe etc without bunding in a post paid moble plan that I dont want or I will look at shifting. Inertia has kept me on snap at a higher price than the others for quite some time but really have to look at changing to something else that will cost me a bit less.

Im hoping that means many more of them come up for sale since they tend to sell for less than the dedicated dect repeater from avm costs new by the time you add freight costs to import.

Need to get my coverage sorted out at home.

It could have been cheaper if they continued to offer Home Phone Basic along with the Plus option, but elected not to and called that value added when it doesn't really add anything to people who only wanted a local line and nothing else.

Then again, the supplied router isn't hardcoded to use their VoIP services, so a different provider can be used instead of them and still be able to use the existing line setup.
