Currently with Snap VDSL.

We however have 2 phone numbers, 1 "normal" and the other being a faxability number.

We did this when we merged families, one ring was for my and my kids the other for her and her kids.

We did not need to let elderly relatives know a new number, nor our places of work , we could tell who the call was for by the ring tones and its been excellent for 12 or so years and we would like to keep that set-up.

However we can find no reference on 2degrees site about faxability but would like to "swap" to 2 degrees because it looks like it should be about $20 a month cheaper than what we currently pay.

Went into the local 2degrees store, they were unsure, tried to ring 2degrees help to check by after 15 minutes waiting for a service rep to answer we gave up and left the store thinking we would do it at a later date.

So what I want is

Unlimited VDSL (we currently get close to 70/30 attainable speeds and don't want a slow down)

Landline

Faxability for the 2nd phone number

Caller ID

Can it be done ?

Faxability is called distinctive ring everywhere that is not spark.

Its not something thats usually done over the voip networks because it is an artifact of the analog network. I dont know if it can do the different rings on the analog ports of the fritxbox, but you can set up multiple numbers and have some go out the first and some go out the second port of the fritzbox, that way you can just plug a different phone into the other port.

It can be done. We offer Faxability @ $4.00 per month, however it’s only for Home Phone Basic and not plus as our VoIP service doesn’t support it.

So, yep you can definitely keep your current setup on a 2degrees plan.

No, faxability is simply the same of the service, it gives 2 different ring tones that Fax machines could detect to know if they should "answer" or not.

We use it to know who the call is for.

No interest in voip at this stage, we dont get fibre until after june 2017 or some such so currently we are using a POTS line, and it works.

It may be tempting in the future to dump the land line and get those numbers forwarded to our cellphones simply so we dont have to ley lots of people know the change.
