When I signed up for a MyRepublic Gamer (i.e. 100/50) plan back in January 2015 they advertised it as being low latency. Their marketing is now a bit more specific: they say "We regularly monitor the network routes to major overseas game servers, ensuring low, consistent latency for popular games."
I used to occasionally look at my smokeping and send them trouble tickets when my first-hop ping times jumped up. To some extent I don't really care about an extra 10ms latency, just was annoyed that it existed with an ISP whose marketing said "low latency."
I've just switched to my new BFF ISP, Inspire Net. Latency to the first-hop IP in my MyRepublic traceroutes (i.e. their network core) has dropped. I.e. it takes packets less time to go through Inspire's network, across a peering exchange, to MyRepublic, than it took for packets to traverse MyRepublic's backhaul network. The ISP switch was on Saturday.
