I can no longer send emails through mail.orcon.net.nz using smtp auth on port 587.  Outlook shows: "server responded: 554 5.7.1 xxxxx@orcon."

Can anyone from Orcon explain whats happened? This used to work fine without any problems.  I have an old historical email address with orcon from back in the days when they advertised orcon email addresses for life. I've been with Spark for the past 3 to 4 years and using orcons smtp on port 587 hasn't been an issue.

There are limits on the rate of emails being sent from users outside the Orcon network for rather obvious reasons, you are not trying to bulk send are you ?

No, its just my own personal email.  I am however receiving a lot of emails as i'm subscribed to a few mailman lists.  Its just a bit frustrating not being able to use outlook to send, I either need to use webmail or another smtp.  For now i'm using my company's smtp, but its not a long term solution as some mail will potentially bounce if the recipient smtp does an MX check before accepting delivery.

I's someone from Orcon able to sort this out?  I cam PM some details.

Well, the right way to deal with this if you want Orcon to look into it is to call the helpdesk and log a fault with them.
