so i get cold called by slingshot offering me a 30/10 ufb deal for about $90 a month..wtf is with that deal? i see people are getting offered 100/20 for $59?

as a SS customer for 10+ years id have thought theyd offer a better deal than that. :(

anyone recomend a 100/20 unlimited (or 150gb) plan thats a better deal?

The biggest problems with NOW:

- The router they provide is locked down, all changes go via them.
- CGNAT by default (like BigPipe) however if you're wanting a public / static IP it'll cost $20/mo.

One of my friends signed up to NOW after a doorknocker offered him a good deal on a 12mo term. He got connected and noticed his home practically went down... The doorknocker didn't tell him about CGNAT (this is actually hidden on their site - they make no mention of it on the plans page).

To me, this is rather dodgy practice and for this alone I'd avoid NOW. The $75 deal is on a contract and is only for UFB 30/10. BigPipe offer 100/20Mbit UFB for $79/mo with no contracts and also $20 off your first month using my link on top of 2mo free for using the code "UFBSWITCH".

Cool looks like bigpipe is the go...only real question is we use getflix so would like to put the getflix dns into the router (currently only progamed into the pc settings). Any other fishhooks for a basic user?

If you're using Getflix you'll likely want to get a Static IP on signup otherwise you'll be on a CGNAT connection which will not work with unblocking providers otherwise if you're going with the BigPipe modem then add the DNS servers and static routes then you're away.

No. $20 / month is with NOW. Bigpipe is a one-off fixed charge when you sign up.

Apologies for the thread hijack, but can you please clarify this for me, please? Are you saying BP customers using an unblocking service really require a static IP address?

Or, if you don't do that, you need to add DNS servers and static routes in the router?

It's just that we're in this boat - BigPipe customers using Getflix; we don't seem to have any problems with Getflix beyond the standard Netflix problems, but are there advantages in our situation to have a static IP address? We have the Getflix DNS servers in the router, but no longer the static routes as provided on the Getflix site.
