I had an outage Christmas Day afternoon. Could not find anything about it on line. I rebooted ONT and the modem. Nothing. Waiting 20 minutes or so and a reboot of modem again seemed to get it all working. Just had a similar problem with it that seemed the same No network at all at 9:43 approx Rebooted Router and back it came. Is this just me (Browns Bay area) or has anyone else experienced outages over last two days. It is really annoying. I have the white Netcom Router by the way.

Just had an outage start for me too - Browns Bay area.

I see Orcons reporting outages affecting some Auckland users and the are investigating. No ETA yet.

Also been offline since around 10:50

Orcon fibre in Albany.

Error message on the router saying it can’t get an ipv6 address from DHCP.

I’ve tried disabling but ipv4 ain’t working either.

My first noticed outage in roughly 7 years with them.. not bad but wow it’s crippling when everything in the house is IP!

Hopefully they sort it out soon.

Outage here in Mt Wellington too. Looks like the same type of problem I had with them a few weeks ago when I changed a plan. Something about Orcon and Chorus not having the same information to authenticate my internet access.

Just checking with those who have these outage, you havent asked for something changed on your orcon plan have u?

No plan change for me, but I'm slingshot. But it's all the same company now.
Coming up to 3 hours outage now. Bit of a joke that it's been down this long.

Slingshot here, Manukau. No plan changes. However sling shot status page says affecting some Auckland customers so probably not a plan issue. Been down since 10:50 and there was also a mini outage shortly before as well

Back up in Browns Bay but once again nothing works until I reboot router. This be is a real pain. I need a full proof way that I can reboot router weekend not at home. Ideally a device that can receive a cellphone call and reboot router. Does anything like this exit?

Ah no apologies Ron, I forgot you were still on a Genius.

The only solution I know to your issue would be to use an IP PDU, however they aren't very cheap.

We use them at work and you can set them to auto power cycle equipment if there is an internet outage.

The ones we use (APC) you can set rules for them to reduce the risk of a power cycle on a false positive.

Slingshot back up too. This fact isn't on their Status Page although Orcon has updated theirs already. Will remember next time to check both ISPs when I have an issue as this outage shows they share some critical infrastructure.

My EdgeRouter did not come back up automatically but changing the password (which has the effect of restarting the PPP daemon) resulted in a connection without needing a reboot. Thus keeping my 190 days uptime on my EdgeRouter. #firstworldpriorities
