Hi all,
Ive just moved back to NZ from Australia, and have had the joy of provisioning fibre.
Having chosen My Republic on a no contract plan, I'd received an interim VDSL setup and configured My Netgear D7000 no problem.
It was suggested I would have to wait 3 to 7 weeks, However 2 days after the VDSL was activated, chorus turns up to assess, and says, we can do it now.
ONT is now on the wall, green lights. Plug in router and switch over to Ethernet WAN. Orange lights on the ONT.... Nothing on the D7000
I do a few basic turn it off and on, check the cables, swap the cables, turn it off and on again again tests. Nothing changes.
I try the VDSL connection and am surprised it's still active, so I switch back and call My Republic. (Customer service and wait times are for another post)
I get through to a CSR and he advises something about accounts and flags and says it wasn't due to switch to Fibre for a couple of weeks. Suggests he will activate it now. This doesn't help anything.
I call back again after a few hours of testing various settings and get another CSR who is confused as to why it doesn't work. Fiddles around and makes me do a few more tests. At this point I now can't get a VDSL connection anymore, despite the status showing a solid VDSL link.
They promise to call me back in 30 mins about 10 hours ago.
So, after all that background, to my questions in descending order of preference:
1. Is there anyone out there wity My Republic, with a D7000 with settings I can review and copy.
2. Are there some suggestions for tests I can perform. I'm willing to buy a new router if it gets it working. No internet is bad.
3. Considering I'm not on a contract, can I simply take my business elsewhere in order to get the internet back faster than waiting for My Republic to figure out what's wrong?
