Anyone else in this boat? I've tried reseting the ONT and router, no joy. Have left a live chat message for them and a voicemail on their support phone line. Their website also appears to be down...

Weather perhaps?

I'm in Hamilton by the way and posting/connecting to the forums via tethered hotspot on my phone...

Devoli have had an outage.

Spark Fibre don't actually own any infrastructure or have their own network - they just use Devoli.

I can confirm the website is... mostly stuffed. CloudFlare is showing a cached copy of their website. They don't seem to have a service status page, but you could try them on twitter. Hopefully they have a backup internet connection from another ISP...

Cool, thanks for that info. Still standing by for any reply from Stuff... I'm migrating my website to a new hosting provider today so not exactly the best timing for my first and only outage in two years of being with them...

There have been a few Devoli outages that have affected Stuff badly in recent times. Devoli do have a good network and I know people there, but seem to just run into bad luck when it comes to issues.

Back up and running now. Zero reply from Stuff team to any of my queries though... I went onto their live chat widget on my phone and there were 12 ahead of me in the queue so obviously a fair few of us in the same boat...

Now, I’m no network engineer, but presumably they have “reduntant everything”.. or do they? What single of point of failure could cause their entire network to go down? I know stuff happens, it’s not a derogatory comment, I’m just quite curious :-)

I know you are kidding, but surely not. They must have redundant fibre paths, correct?

I’m guessing a software bug?

Yes and no for kidding, a digger caused major tran-tasman issues a few months back. So yeah a man with a digger can create mayhem tongue-out

While I don't know the specific cause I know it's not a digger.

Seems to be affecting alot to be a software related card outage like Vocus had recently. but wouldn't surprise me if it was something like that..

No matter how diverse you make things, somewhere along the lines it goes through a single point. be that the end users computer, a heavily monitored router, bng or whatever.

It gets very expensive othewise...
