I'm with 2degrees fiber, a happy customer.

My IP address is dynamic, but usually changes fairly rarely - every few months. It's changed a couple of times recently, which is slightly annoying as I have a couple of services that are dependent on my IP address. It's not a huge problem to change them, just a minor annoyance.

Here's the relevant router logs.

26.10.18 04:43:50 Internet connection established successfully. IP address: (new IP allocated - removed)

26.10.18 04:43:31 PPPoE error: Timeout. [3 messages since 26.10.18 04:43:03]

26.10.18 04:42:49 PPPoE error: Timeout. pads: no srvname

26.10.18 04:42:32 PPPoE error: Timeout. [13 messages since 26.10.18 04:39:45]

26.10.18 04:39:31 Timeout during PPP negotiation.

26.10.18 04:39:31 Internet connection cleared.

23.10.18 12:46:17 Internet connection established successfully. IP address: (new IP allocated - removed)

I'm just curious if anyone else found this, if it's just me, there was maintenance going on, etc. If it happens every few days I'll either want to automate updating my IP in a couple of places or find a way to get a more static IP.

Looks like standard maintenance. I had a quick look at my logs and its pretty much around the same time. I have a fixed IP with 2degrees so don't notice it but I do have my FB set to send me an email when it picks up an IP so I know the there was a connection drop -

26.10.18 04:48:43 Internet connection established successfully. IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, DNS server: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, gateway: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, broadband PoP: xxxx-xx

26.10.18 04:40:20 PPPoE error: Timeout. [4 messages since 26.10.18 04:39:40]

26.10.18 04:39:26 Timeout during PPP negotiation.

26.10.18 04:39:26 Internet connection cleared.

26.10.18 04:39:26 IPv6 internet connection was cleared; prefix no longer valid.

25.10.18 17:37:19 The service provider successfully transmitted settings to this device. [3 messages since 23.10.18 21:37:19]

Looks about the same with my routers outage logs:

OUTAGE Today at 11:30 until Today at 11:33 - 2m 15s
OUTAGE Today at 4:39 until Today at 4:44 - 5m 55s
OUTAGE Today at 4:03 until Today at 4:04 - 1m 0s

Must have been maintenance - not at all worried as the outages were small. I've got a static IP so not affected. I did note I had to do a full router reboot after the last outage to get IPv6 back.

Thanks guys, was just curious. Good to hear it was just maintenance / upgrades and it should settle down again.

Had no registered landline number (despite the logs saying it has registered fine) since the 17th that noone can seem to work out why :P that count?.

Sure makes for a quiet household. But hard to diagnose on mobile when in a VF black hole

A few bits going on - ONT upgrades from Chorus and upgrading all our Core routers across the country to newer versions of Junos, more 100gb line cards etc. We have 5 more routers to go, so it should settle after next week.

Nick.

Have you checked to see if there is any 2degrees reception at your house? As I have found a couple of areas in urban Auckland that have no Vodafone coverage. But which do have 2degrees coverage.
