Customer service is our main priority, even if it costs a little bit more. Don't need lots of frills. Just looking for a reliable provider who also cares about its customers.

The threads we've looked at so far are pretty encouraging for 2D. Skinny is our other main option so far.

Anyone have a strong opinion on this?

Also if we do a home phone with 2D should we ask about wiring insurance?

Go for the best deal and sign for 12 months.

Skinny does have a good name as has 2 degrees.

Oh and we're in Canterbury, would we automatically get bumped up to 200/20 instead of the stated 100/20?

Edit: typo

Are you unhappy with Slingshot and want to switch or just surveying the landscape?

Unhappy with Slingshot. Described a bit about that at https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=250859&page_no=1#2259826

If customer service is your main focus then 2degrees would be a good starting point. I’m with Spark, have found their customer service good and responsive when I’ve needed it.

Another +1 for 2degrees. The support is great. Also no, you don’t need wiring insurance as voice is delivered via their router (which is also very good).

I’ve got a post on my blog (in my signature) on picking the right ISP that may be helpful but 2degrees sounds like it’ll tick all your boxes. Also if you’ve got on-account mobile with them - you save an extra $10/mo.

Ask them about 200/20, that offer was intended by Enable to end at the end of the year so they may not want to put people on contracts where the offer could end during contract. Enable are looking at extending it from another thread though not guaranteed.

I’ve rung 2degrees twice, both times phone answered under 3 minutes and person on other end had knowledge of what I was asking about. One was just got the internet running and phone wouldn’t do out going calls, they fixed on the spot.

Phone service includes free toll calls NZ landlines, 22 cent per minute mobile calls, caller ID, message minder - in settings can even see where can get messages sent to email, haven’t tested, and other services come with it.

They also offer Prime Video one year free with a year contract, and on their web site can still see the $200 joining credit there as well.

Bigpipe. You can't beat three months free (Which is almost 250dollar value)
And their plans are competitively priced.

If one of the OP's reasons for looking to switch is customer service then I'd not be looking at moving to Bigpipe.

First up, no call centre, and second a number of people have reported issues getting a timely response via email.

This was one of the main reasons we shifted away from BP; many other companies, including 2D, have not too dissimilar incentives to sign up, charge a similar price, and actually provide decent service.

The reality is that the quality of service with many companies ebbs and flows over time (well, apart from perhaps Vodafone where, IME, it's always sh!te) - as an example, many moons ago Snap had the best service I'd ever experienced but the quality really dropped (waiting time and knowledge of staff) when purchased by 2D; now it seems to be back up there. (We're back with 2D again and have no reason to doubt this.)
