Yo Folks

I'm currently considering going onto 2 Degrees. I was looking at the $30 Pay Monthly Plan, and notice that it seems the same as the $30 Prepaid Plan (Except not being able to share the data - which doesn't matter to me).

Any catches or anything that I am missing between the differences of these 2 plans?

(And yes I do know Pay Monthly is when they send you a bill while Prepaid is paid before you use it)

Yeah I have but i recently renewed my plan and am now locked into a 12 month Contract. Plus Spark has been good to me (Broadband wise) so would rather stay with them.

So is the extra $$ off a Plan with Broadband the only feature thats different between prepaid & Pay Monthly?

I’m currently with spark on their $19 Prepaid Rollover.

I’m looking at changing from spark due to how there roll over is capped at 3.5GB’s, and with how I’m looking at increasing my data allowance (for the last few months I’ve run out of data like a week before it renewed).

I’ve had a look at 2degrees’s $19 Prepaid plan however have come to the conclusion that the 1.25GB of data will not be enough for my needs.

I recall a couple of years ago when I was looking around that pay monthly generally gave more features/bonuses etc then prepaid. However looking at 2degrees’s $30 pay monthly it seems to be the same as their $30 prepaid plan.

So my next question would be, which would you go for - $30 prepaid or the $30 pay monthly? And why?

So before we make our mind set on switching: 1) have you checked that you can port your number no worries (usually you can but still good to check), 2) have you checked to see your certain you can get 2degrees coverage where you live, 3) have you considered someone like skinny who is a child brand of spark that uses their networks but provides their own service and customer support etc. and has a plan with exactly same data, texts and minutes for $26 and lastly is the phone your using unlocked or are you willing to pay the $30 or what ever it is to unlock it?

I’d say that it’s upto you whether you choose pay monthly or prepay because what you get is the same apart from the ability to share data with friends on 2d for the pay monthly plan. They both get data clock with 1 free hour so my personal opinion would be to go prepay for a few reasons, 1) you can’t go over your data or calls limit, 2) if your having a hard time financially you pay before you use and you won’t be stuck with a huge bill 3) since your on a spark prepaid now and I’m guessing you are going to port your number it will only mean that you need the sim number and your phone number to switch rather than having to going into a store or going online and having to verify who you are with id etc.

@rangosouthnz Also on 2degrees you get 1 hour of free data everyday! You select when the 1 hour starts

You just need to install the 2degrees Data clock App (which is free)

You can now have the spend control set to $0, so you don't have to worry about over spending.

The data sharing has been helpful when I've had people visit from overseas or needed a data only device. Harvey Norman usually sells sim cards for $1.

1) I've had family members and mates that have switched to 2 Degrees with no issues (with several of the doing Prepaid --> Prepaid or Prepaid --> Pay Monthly).

2) I'm in a Christchurch so I don't think that'll be a problem.

3) I haven't considered that, so will have a look.

4) Phone is a Galaxy S9 which is unlocked (brought unlocked for the particular reason if I decided to change providers). I believe it was a 2Degrees one that i was given as it came with a 2Degrees code on the box and has the 2 Degrees app installed (however I uninstalled that when i first got it).

5) I'm currently financially stable (I've done the cost's) however that is a good point to take in factor when choosing.
