Last month I decided to leave Vodafone and move to 2degrees. They had a great promo buy one Samsung Galaxy note 9and get the other note 9 for free.

I sat on that idea for a couple of days and decided to take up the offer.

I have never been a android phone fan person always been a iPhone fan. Watched alot of Youtube videos hopping I'm making the right choice.

Yes the Galaxy note 9 phone is great BUT there is few things that are annoying me. My previous iPhone was a 8 plus and I stream the Rova app so I could listen to my favorite station.
Where I live radio stations don't go to far reception wise and I have to use the app. So the iPhone and the Rova app and Vodafone work very well a great combo but this phone my note 9 the Rova app and 2degrees no it's the opposite a poor combo.

2degrees works well in town and my note 9 shows 4G but as I leave or loose 2degrees signal the Vodafone connection kicks in and the trouble starts. The phone shows H symbol with arrows up and down and R symbol above the bars. The Rova app then decides goes then stops and keeps repeating it self at random lengths in time.

So I've been back to the 2degrees shop 3 different times and the staff have play around with the setting trying to Improve the issues I'm having but still the problem is still there. Yesterday I'm went to the app and clear cache and Under permission turn the location button on. But I don't think that will make any difference either.
With this phone even if I have been on the Vodafone signal with the H symbol and I come back to 2degrees coverage the phone won't show 4G It will still displayed H symbol arrows up and down and R symbol above signal bars and the Rova app cutting in and out. Very frustrating. This issue has been going on for 4 weeks now and I don't bother with the app.

So I'm wondering what shall or should I do next?.
This is Important to me because I have always use the Rova app as a backup to the radio in my truck that I drive for work.
Do I sell the Galaxy note 9 phone on trade me and go back to a iPhone or shall I move back to Vodafone which I don't want to take up one of there offer with a iPhone??,
This is a great phone but I feel android phone that I have at present is no match to a iPhone 8 that I use to have.
Please let me know your thoughts. I'm welling to listen.

This may be the answer to your speed problem (link to the full discussion, without the Answer filter). It is not the phone.

If you live in an area where there's no native 2degrees coverage but your phone uses the Vodafone network, then you may be speed limited but this roaming.

And this from the same thread may be related to the other part - getting stuck on 3G and not going back to 4G.

@Rangus The H is for HSPA (High speed packet access) which is 3G / WCDMA the issue is not your handset but the speed restriction imposed by 2degrees

I believe this speed restriction is going to be bumped up soon but not sure of time frame

Thanks John. You most likely hit the nail on the roof. Best thing to do is trying out a iPhone on 2degrees network see how that goes for a while and if still no joy I will contemplate my next move.

Give 2D till end of this year and go from there.

If you are being affected by the limits I highlighted in the first reply, using an iPhone or Android should make no difference.
