Hi, I'm new to this forum and a little overwhelmed with the issue we have, so here goes.

We recently moved our broadband fibre, landline/cordless phone and mobile from Vodafone to 2 Degrees.  Vodafone moved the mobile over fine, but when it came to the broadband and landline things started to get messy.

Vodafone wouldn't release our landline number which in turns caused 2 Degrees to not be able to connect us correctly.  Eventually Vodafone released and 2 Degrees tell me everything is all set up ready to go.

The issue we have is our landline won't work.  We have tried various versions of cords in various ports and the best we can get is a dial tone that goes no where and when I try to ring in I get an message saying the phone is not connected.  We can see missed calls on the call log in the Fritz login.

I don't know what else to do.  My understanding is that the landline/cordless phone connects through the modem, which is what we had when we were with Vodafone.

When the boys started the move from Vodafone to 2 degrees, they unplugged everything then started plugging 2 degrees in, they didn't pay attention to what came from where.

Which FritzBox do you have?

I have an older 7390 model, but I think the newer ones are similar.  Mine has two ports on the back marked FON1 and FON2.  "Fon" is German for "phone".  Both ports are analogue phone sockets and you can connect an analogue phone to either or both.  I have Fon1 connected to the house phone wiring, and Fon2 to a spare analog phone I have on my computer desk.  Since they are RJ-11 sockets, you may need a BT to RJ-11 adapter to connect NZ phones, like this:

https://www.elive.co.nz/dynamix-adapter-bt-male-rj11-cd0653.php

You can also get the "FRITZ!App Fon" app for Android or iOS phones which will connect to the FritzBox and provide landline phone service on your mobile.  On top of that, the FritzBox is a DECT phone base station, so if you have a compatible DECT portable phone (DECT GAP standard, not Uniden), it can be connected directly to the FritzBox rather than its normal base station.

You can configure the FritzBox so that all phones ring on incoming calls.  Any phone can answer a call, and if a call is in progress on one phone, the other phones will ring when another call comes in and can answer it.  You can have as many phone calls at a time (incoming or outgoing) as you like.  The phones connected to the FritzBox can call each other - the FON1 port is "**1", the FON2 port is "**2" and all the other phones get assigned numbers when they are connected, typically starting at "600" and working upwards.  So it is a basic PABX system.

Thank you Nick. Ricky sent me a new modem which arrived today and low and behold the landline worked. It appears we had a faulty modem, which is being sent back tomorrow.
Great service.
