I decided to top up my data with a 5GB for $10 block purchase on Saturday. I checked the "my account" section in Slingshot after the purchase & all was fine. Later, I went back & discovered that somehow it showed I had purchased a subsequent, further 5GB data block. Something I would never do, as I would purchase 20GB for $25.

I rang the Slingshot support line, expecting to simply have that erroneous purchase reversed, only to find there is NO provision for that facility. I coudn't believe it. The only offer the support person could make was a 50% rebate on the extra purchase. I informed him I didn't want the purchase, just removed. We left it at that, after some discussion.

I decided to contact Scott on this forum, to see if there was something that could be done, slightly further up the corporate chain.

When I got home tonight, I have a PM saying they would implement a procedure to prevent duplicate data block purchases within 15 minutes to stop errors occurring.

I really appreciated the quick action as I was rather peeved about something so simple & logical not being in place to begin with.

I hope the executives up Slingshot's corporate foochain realise the positive things that seem to be happening since Scott's shown up here, at least from my perspective. Cheers, Scott Laughing

Yeah, Scott's good value. I'm glad to hear that problem is being sorted.
I heard of a few people who accidentally brought double the amount they intended.
Nice One Scott and the rest of the Slingshot team.

Thanks guys,

Appreciate the feedback :)

Yes, have requested the 15 min rule. It's not in place yet but will let you know when it is.

Good to hear. I do have one futrher complaint about the datablock system, since it appears things can be changed with it with the right person looking at it.
I am on an older 6GB plan (sprint I think). Occasionally I exceed my 6GB limit by a couple of hundred MB (at dialup speed) so my total usage for the month may be 6.2GB say. If I then decide to buy an extra data block this is only added onto my 6GB limit so my if I bought 3GB my new limit is only 9GB rather than 9.2GB. Effectively I am short changed by .2GB. Not a major in the overall scheme of things but still annoying and should be fairly easy to fix. Any chance???

It's due to the way we measure our data, and no not easy to fix.. have asked IT about this before actually.

There an up and a down side to this however:

Down - yes data is counted while slowed down and applied to the next data block purchase (given this all happens in the same bill period).

Up - if you do not purchase another data block the data isn't counted.

I'll see what I can do about asking again, but no promises sorry.
