Do you remember the time when the old Telecom 025 disappeared – (and to be replaced with 027 - e.g. 0272 / 0274 / 0275 / 0276 / 0273 / 0276)?
I got a feeling déjà vu about this in relation to the new 022 prefix.
It is amazing how many web sites (including some government registration web site) that forces you to select your prefix for your phone from a drop down box. I understand the rationale for it – given you don’t have to cleanse your data before importing the registration data into their CRM database / billing system or whatever.
But all the web sites that have enforced this will need to update their web sites so the new 2 Degrees customers are not penalised.
The other thing 2Degrees need to consider – if they go down the path of Vodafone and give phone users a free email.... I know many web sites that reject domain names in emails that start with a number in their validation script. I know as I used to have one!
Seems rather myopic to force people to use a drop down box instead of simple getting them to type it in. Every time a new network launches you have to add a new option.
well places have done it all along for DOB and areas and stuff - to clueless webdesigners it makes their job easier - till someone edits the dropdown to include what they want which happened to have a ` in it... Oh dear... what else can I do with this form... cough drop cough......
