Got my 2degrees SIM sorted and pleased to find that I finally have coverage at my house in the Eastern Beach, Bucklands Beach area (Howick, Auck) FULL SIGNAL!!!

For years I have asked the VF call centre about the poor coverage and they have always said "It's on the plan" ... Hmmm ... for 10 years??? Yeah Right!

Not necessarily true, there is a VF Bucklands Beach Cell Site quite close to me but I always got Waiheke, Pine Harbour or Point England.

However, my point is that I finally get coverage at my house where VF could never achieve it.

Now if only the public can agree to having those other 2 towers installed in East Auckland...

Having a tower (very) close to you actually means you will have poor signal unless you are somewhat elevated. Towers transmit most of the signal horizontal, not vertical, which is exactly why we should install towers at schools (to get lowest radiation of our kids).

You can never have enough Volvos!

Tell it to the Cell Site protesters who had signs up in my area. (Install jammers by their houses and see them complain about no coverage)

Remember, they are only using Vodafone outside of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. In those cities, you can’t roam on Vodafone.

The anti cellsite brigade has been in full swing in the Wellington area over the past year trying to stop a large number of sites.

RF waves in high doses have the potentnail to be dangerous. Thers is no deying that.

Protesting about a Telecom site in Titahi Bay when right next door is NZ's highest & most powerful AM radio transmitter is just plain crazy.

Protesting about a NZ Comms site on top of Waterloo Railway Station because it will drop property prices and harm pregnant mothers and children on the platform is just plain crazy. If they'd done their research they'd know the railway station already had a Vodafone and Telecom site as well as a lot of radio links for the council.

Protesting about a NZ Comms site in Maungaraki on top of a water tower that once again already contains radio repeater gear for council and telemetry as well as being a site for Smartlinx3 wireless broadband is crazy.

Dairy flat for example you would be roaming on VF (a Mate gets no 2d signal there so is therefore roaming on VF)
Perhaps only Auckland Central.

As I have said earlier, currently as far as I remember the line is around Albany, Henderson and Pukekohe.
I could be wrong but you are right, Dairy flat is roaminf on VF so no edge, and same old coverage.

Yes so far the coverage in Wellington has been good, when using Vodafone while on the move I've had a lot of dropped calls in our part of Wellington, whereas 2Degrees are solid.

Or that 2d 2G coverage is better than VF 3G coverage?
