With a 2° SIM in a vodafone roaming area

A Nokia 3120 c and 6121 c shows 2degrees as Network

A Nokia 1202(from 2degrees stand) shows vodafone NZ as network but will flash 2degress at times.

An old Nokia 3200 shows vodafone NZ on display with 2degrees in small text underneth

A Nokia 1100 show vodafone NZ

An old Nokia 5210 shows VODAFONE

Can anyone give reasons for the difference is display information, Thanks

I noticed this on an old Nokia phone too. It still says "Vodafone" in some fashion.

Is it to do with "operator logos" on these Nokias?

Because I once downloaded a custom operator logo to another old Nokia phone (premium service from overseas when I was travelling) and that phone continues to display my custom logo, and "2 degrees" below it (I'm roaming in Dunedin on Vodafone).

Glofiish X610 in East Auckland showing 53024 with 2D SIM. Anyone know how to fix/change this? With VF SIM shows Vodafone.

Vodafone 715 shows "Vodafone NZ" where the carrier name usually is, and "2 degrees" below that. It also shows a suitcase (which I assume means "roaming") where the signal meter usually is (with small dots instead of the usual bars).

The network transmits two numbers - 530 (Mobile Country Code for NZ) and 24 (Mobile Network Code for 2degrees). Normally the handset firmware is responsible for translating that to "2degrees" or "Vodafone NZ". Hence, if your handset's firmware is older than our GSMA update to the name "2degrees" then your handset will display something else, usually NZ 24.

This can be overridden in the SIM profile. However, there are lots of ways to do it, and the various ways are implemented inconsistently in the handsets. This is further complicated by the national roaming scenario.

We did a lot of experimenting to find the profile that resulted in 2degrees being always displayed on as many handsets as we could, but it's not possible to make it work for all of them.

My 2d sim just arrived today, popped it in my Nokia 6234 and it only displays "2degrees" and the cellsite I'm on, it did try to connect to the 3g network but disconnected 1 second later and went back to GSM (I'm in a vodafone roaming area - hamilton)

I live in Oamaru in the south island if anyone knows where that is. I have a REALLY old alcatel and when I put my 2degrees sim it says "2Degrees" and then Vodafone NZ underneath it. My blackberry curve 8310 displays Vodafone NZ - 2Degrees at the top and my LG Ku380 just says 2Degrees with the roaming Icon at the top

I would have thought that 2 degrees would have a lease set there phones up to display 2 degrees in Vodafone area's just not a good look to to average punter who would be surprised to see Vodafone displayed on there brand new 2 degrees gear.
