Picked up a sim and $20 top-up last night. It sends and receive calls and receives texts but cant send them. (Except one to the wifes phone which said "message cannot be displayed")

I've checked the profile message centre number and that looks ok.

Beginning to wonder if phone isn't fully compatible with the 2degree network for some reason!

Rang the help-desk and she said check the message centre settings!!

You would think wouldn't you. But alas I haven't figured out what the problem is. All i know is it's not on their sitre list of Nokia phones. That could simply be it's age tho!

Aha. Great at least I know it's supposed to work then!
You didn't have any problems with the settings?

Under message settings, does your phone have three sending profiles 1st) NZC SMSC with the +64220227672 number and messages sent as text. 2nd) profile 2, with no number and 3rd) Common

I'm just trying to see if I need to change something in my profile settings as that seems to be the only thingI can change somewhat.

Thanks

Robin

I have 3 of them working fine, and we ran a sim thru mums one for her to register and that went fine as well.

message cannot be displayed happens on occasion on incoming texts I found when on vodafone, but thats from asian handsets writing in some other charset, or a mms coming thru to it (with no way to retrieve which sucks)

Never had outbound issues on them at all. Infact I never put a SMSC into it - just worked. And the clock will set itself too which is great.

Should be set to use the 'NZC SMSC with the +64220227672' profile. That is what is on the SIMs. Most phones will just pick that off the SIM automatically.

Are you roaming or not (ie in Akl, Wlg or Chch or somewhere else)?
