I also suffered from the same issues but it's all back now. Would've been great if you had updated your network status!

The staff that were here didn't have the correct permissions on the web server to roll out any status changes, this will be corrected on Monday.

Dunedin here, I also was affected, many people that connect to my servers have complained to me that their access died.
The strange part was that while sites were timing out ect, i was able to do a speed test which showed excellent ping time and bandwidth

Must also say I agree with FriedCrumpet, would be nice to know whats going on rather than being left in the dark

if you dont have internet , it would seem pointless updating there network status, maybe a message on the phone saying there is a problem would be more helpful, mind you with snap if im having problems and i ring Snap and theres a long waiting time then i pretty much know they have problems lol

Common sense is not as common as you think.

yeps, experienced the same issues this morning. before the local cabinet got upgraded, whenever it rained, my line speed would drop to dial up speeds. since its been raining today, i thought "oh not the moisture in the line again!" checked my line speeds.. and they were normal so realised the issues were at the snap end.

this doesnt happen often so wasnt that big a deal this morn :-)

Yeah I did the same thing, got 13mbps to LA, was awesome :)  Pingtimes were not good however, was getting 50% packetloss.  I guess with everyone suffering connection problems more bandwidth was available and I just happened to run my test at a good moment.

The net was not fully out, I could get to snap's status page quite easily.  Not to mention other means of getting online.  I'd rather do a quick check before I bother sending support tickets or calling, which unfortunately I ended up doing.

Many people have a phone capable or mobile broadband, or you might get a friend or neighbour to check the network status page for you.

NZ ISP's are notoriously slack at providing any information about what is going down.

i dont have a mobile phone (yes i know but i hate them) and by the time i try to find someone it would be easier just to ring Snap and get a recorded message

Yes but that's just you. Many people do have more than one connection.

It's silly not to have network status updates for exactly that reason - less load on the call center if people can find out for themselves.
