I repair pc's and use rapidshare to download drivers, especially xp drivers for some recent hp notebooks, where the hp website only lists the vista drivers for a specific model notebook and not drivers for xp "thanks hp!" but anyway to my point... due to Orcons restricting of access to rapidshare, I am unable to download files greater 10mb without much difficulty, Last night i was trying to download a file of 16mb from rapidshare and took a couple of hours and repeated attempts, as the download would run at 5kb/s approx and get to around 60% or 70% then time out. I rang orcon and yes the guy on the phone confirmed they were limiting access to rapidshare. I told them to lift the restriction or I would be switching isp's, the guy said he would take a note of that. But I think this is rediculous!, Orcon can do this, I pay for an internet service and I expect to get access to every website available on the internet.
In orcons terms and conditions:
2.3 Orcon prioritises certain types of traffic such as web and email. Other types of traffic such as peer to peer (P2P) are deprioritised.
Looks like Orcon prioritise web and email, so if this is what they say in their terms and conditions, then why Orcon can I not use rapidshare? Rapidshare is a website and obviously part of the web and you prioritise such services according to your terms and condtions.
I would hate to think of the problems other users are facing due to Orcons restrcting of this website. I know that people use rapidshare to send files that are too large to email, eg adobe photoshop files.
Orcon needs to get this sorted
