Just received a text from 2D "hi.s many of you have joined us that we can now give you even more for topping up see 2degreesmobie.co.nz on Monday..."

Any one know what would be the more for topping up like?

I don't expect them to launch data plans till 3g comes out, would be cool if they did lower text/calling rates (or gave more "magic" with topups).

I topped up today and a message appeared on my laptop that said I was entered in the draw for a year's free topups @ $20 per month.

Maybe that's it?

Or maybe it's something extra that everyone gets with their topups from now on.  Either way, I'll be sure to check the 2D website on Monday.  Thanks for the tip.

Yep - I just logged into Your2Degrees and got:

Good news. You're in this month's draw for a $20 top up on us every month for a year. Make sure your email is up-to-date so we can contact you if you're the winner.

I don't top up yet but got the same message on the my degreess too.

I predict the extra topping up might be:

Top up $20 = Free 200 texts and expire within 2 months from the top up day.If this become true then it surely beaten the vodafone text 2000 & unlimited text plan on telecom

Extending the 22c a minute calls for the first 30 days after topup to all mobile networks instead of landlines and 2degree mobiles maybe. I too topped up the other day before I got that text.

Here is the official release sent today:

2degrees extends "Magic Top-Up" giving customers 22c/min to landlines in another 21 countries, and more free texts

With "Magic Top-Up", 2degrees customers have been able to enjoy a great rate of 22c/min to 2degrees mobiles and New Zealand landlines. Now 2degrees is extending the 22c/min rate to include calls to landlines in another 21 countries. Additional free texts will also be included which can be used to text to any New Zealand mobile anytime.

According to Sales and Marketing Manager, Larrie Moore, 2degrees is committed to giving customers better value and great service with their mobile accounts.

"When 2degrees entered the market we halved the standard pre-pay calling rates from 89c/min to 44c/min. We also gave our customers even greater value when they topped-up by giving them Magic Top-Up which brings the base calling rate to 2degrees mobiles and New Zealand landlines down to 22c/min for 30 days," he said.

"We are now extending Magic Top-Up so our customers can call landlines in another 21 countries for just 22c/min, and we've thrown in more free texts too. So now it's even more affordable for our customers to stay connected with friends and family here and overseas."

2degrees customers will receive the new Magic Top-Up rewards on top-ups made after 8am Monday 16 November 2009.

Maybe my memory is just shoddy,  but isn't that the same as it was before?

(i thought it was 150 texts for $20 topup actually)

I am fairly sure it used to be 150 texts for $30 topup.  But it has always been 100 texts for $20.

To be honest, I have received so many free texts, I have no hope of using them all.  But it is nice to know that it's not costing me 20c each time like it was on Voda for so many years.
