My speed have really drop in the last couple of days is my line stats normal ?

Useing the Orcon Hub

ADSL Line

Status:
Cable connected

Line mode:
ADSL2+

Maximum line rate:
17148 kbps (downstream) / 1016 kbps (upstream)

Noise margin:
11.7 dB (downstream) / 43.5 dB (upstream)

Line attenuation:
13.7 dB (downstream) / 6.7 dB (upstream)

Output power:
17.2 dBm (downstream) / 11.7 dBm (upstream)

Well your sync rate up and down seems okay. SNR seems within limits and the attenuation puts you fairly close to the cabinet / exchange.

I'd give Orcon a call and get them to look at it, with those metrics out of your modem you have a very high attainble throughpout, however due to other factors i.e. congestion on your DSLAM (local kit that you and other DSL users in your area connect to) you are certainly not getting reasonable throughput.

There's nothing else using your connection? Best way to check is check your usgae from Orcon and see if it's suddenly jumped, there might be something esle using your bandwidth you dont know about or if you have something that can show all the traffic in/out of your machine ... ?

First stop should definetly be the Orcon helpdesk.

After discoonecting everything i get about 5.0 mbps

I think its my flat mate taking all the speed on the wireless network anyway of limiting it? if he is on his computer i cant do anything

You could evict him? lol most broadband routers don't traffic limiting per IP address, not in the lower price range anyways. Generally its things like proxy servers or firewalls that can do this sort of thing.

Are you running the speed tests on your wireless or via a cable?

Try running the test early in the morning (to auckland) and se eif you get faster speeds.. (Say around 8am)

Iv blocked UDP , Ftp nntp , seems to have done the trick when i want on lol , if all fails i have easy admin disable wireless

Via Cable

Did one with blocked and unblocked and got a 4mbps incresse with all that blocked
