Hi
Appreciate any advice.
Shifted to a new suburb in Dundin and in additional to sticking with Orcon for broadband went for a complete homeline package. Before we shifted was getting around 3-5Mbs downloads with Orcon and Telecom home ine.
Here is what I am getting now !

Modem Statistics
Line Rate
131 Kbps downstream
156 Kbps upstream
Attainable Line Rate
300 Kbps downstream
200 Kbps upstream
Noise Margin
12.6 dB downstream
14.5 dB upstream
Line Attenuation
82.0 dB downstream
41.1 dB upstream
Out of 3 modems that worked at prior address, 2 will not pick up adsl signal at all.
No faster in non peak times.
I went door knocking along the street to discover houses about 8-10 away on either side of us are getting around 4 Mbs.
Complained to Orcon but getting nowhere fast.
Requested their report from Telecom.
Your Telecom Problem Number is SDXXXXX.
TCNZ COMPLETED XX-XX-2010 XX:XX:XX Port has been reset and profile has been changed to long reach profile, however speed did not change much, checked attenuation is very high 82.5/37.7, suspect user is more than 5km from exch, user may need to change plan as they are out of the range that Telecom can provide high speed internet service, thanks.

All Im getting from Orcon is that as my line attenuation rate is so high I must be a long way from the exchange.
To quote them "We've had your line investigated by our supplier and found that the cause for your slow speeds is due to your line distance from your phone exchange. Your line stats indicate that you are more than 5km away from your phone exchange and the service is basically borderline operable and near its limits"
Well my immediate neighbours in either direction must be even further away from the exchange but they are not borderline operable!
Is there any thing I can do?
Requested a technician but one week later still waiting for a reply.
