I was able to access www.painttheearth.co.nz a couple of weeks ago, but now when I try it times out... going via a proxy and I can get there fine. Im able to ping the site fine and it resolves during a trace and completes.

Can someone else on Orcon+ try the site ? :)

Thanks

...And it's fine here too (Telecom) - I would suggest you compare the IP I have to the one you have, could be 1 of 2 things, either Orcon's DNS Servers are resolving the wrong IP or it's Orcon's Transparent Cache (If they posses one).

michaelm@Al:~$ ping painttheearth.co.nz
PING painttheearth.co.nz (174.121.114.156) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 9c.72.79ae.static.theplanet.com (174.121.114.156): icmp_seq=1 ttl=49 time=277 ms

Is it just me or does this appear to be being served from a ADSL/Cable connection?

No one on Orcon will be able to see it, NS1.orcon.net.nz has incorect records:

DNS server handling your query: localhost
 DNS server's address:    127.0.0.1#53

 Non-authoritative answer:
 Name:    painttheearth.co.nz
 Address: 174.121.114.156

DNS server handling your query: ns1.orcon.net.nz
 DNS server's address:    210.55.12.1#53

 Name:    painttheearth.co.nz
 Address: 219.88.240.162

Seen this happen before, domain will have been with Orcon or a company they wholesale for (looks likw web world in this case) and the recored has not been automatically removed.

IE ns1/2 think its still the authoritative name server and is refusing zone updates form the new name servers.

To fix this contact the old registrant and request the zone files be manually deleted.
