I am considering moving to Orcon for my Internet and landline. My current landline provider is Telecom. A key decision point is the handling of incoming faxes

Currently I have Faxability which sends a different ring tone when a fax is being sent which alerts you to not answer the phone and let the fax machine answer it ( It may do other signaling as well because the fax machine won't try to answer voice calls)

My fax machine is a Canon ImageMaker MPC20

I would like to
a) know that an incoming call is a fax
b) have the fax machine pick up incoming faxes and leave voice calls to the answerphone

From other postings there is are suggestion of using another supplier for the fax eg "2talk" but I'd prefer to do it all through Orcon if possible

All suggestions appreciated

Here's an idea, sign up for 2Talk and port your fax number across to voip, then you can receive all your faxes as emails :)

There may be a better voip provider for this solution.

Sales blurb from their site:
A 2talk Fax line gets you your very own dedicated fax service.  You can choose to simply use the 2talk Faxmail service to send and receive faxes from your PC or you can connect your traditional fax machine to a T.38 capable device such as an ATA and use it to send and receive your faxes.  You can even use the Faxmail service to receive any faxes missed by your fax machine.

I had planned on using this but decided to just give up fax completely...

This was going to be my query.

Do you receive enough faxes to warrant worrying about it?
