I've certainly noticed transient slowness - it seems to come and go though.

Yep, coming from an Actrix connection to Orcon (both lines have near perfect ADSL2+ connectivity and home line conditions are excellent) I have noticed some slowness at times. I never had any issues with congestion on Actrix. Perhaps using smaller ISPs is the way to go...

A couple of requests... hen posting about transient problems please please please put a date in the subject, because in three years time people will search and find something about "Orcon slow tonight" and believe me there are people who don't look at the post dates.

Also, please do not use ALL CAPITALS. NO NEED TO SHOUT.

Hey guys

We have an outage tonight to resolve the issue. We found some links which are at capacity within our network.

We are upgrading it to 10Gig in the wee hours tomorrow.

Sorry mate, nothing personal but capacity monitoring, management and alerting (trending with thresholds included) are a part of any successful operation and Orcon looks more and more like a reactional organisation every week.

That isn't the sandvine shaping, thats googles routing policy.

202.167.228.73 (202.167.228.73) 329.570 ms 330.325 ms 329.673 ms

That is outside of Orcons network, therefor outside of Orcons control.

What was the source IP for these traceroutes btw? Is that the complete traceroute? it seems to be missing a few hops at the start if its a EUBA connection.

We have influcence their routing if required, but I need more information.

Actually, thats not EUBA at all, trace is from a colocation customer in the datacenter.

One of the traceroutes is from the colocation.
Not sure the first few hops matter so no point there.
Plus there is still no answer why trip times are so different.
