With Pay Monthly you get 50MB of national data per month... However I am still getting charged for the data I use, but it also gets deducted off my data allowance.

Im not a heavy data user so the charges arn'nt much... But still. Have I got it wrong? Or should I not be getting charged for the data as long as it is under 50MB.

Also... I apparently called a number (898) 10 times on wednesday and got charged $0.09 for each call. It was classified as premium content.... Does anyone know what this is?

898 sounds like one of those short codes used for things like phone banking or text parking etc. I'd be calling 2 degress to find out if they can tell you what it is, and to also ask about the data charges. I'm on pay monthly and don't get charged for data, though could you explain more why it is you think you think you are being charged for data

It will be a premium SMS, most likely. Sure you're not signed up to anything dodgy?

FYI, if you look here you will see that 898 is the Shell Fishing Competition, at 9c/message.

Hey there,

We have two seperate issues here that don't appear to be related. If you can flick me through your 2degrees details privately and I will have this looked into :)

Cheers

Interesting tidbit: the error return from the billing engine resulting from failure to rate a call - in this case, because there is no such number - is interpreted the same way by the call control system as insufficient credit.

Thus, calling 898 gets you an insufficient credit announcement.

For more common special numbers that we don't support (e.g. any 01xx number except for 018 and 0172) or common misdials (e.g. 025) I have a specific override in place to get you an invalid number announcement. Not worth trying to cover every possible case though, so very unusual ones, like 898, still get you a confusing announcement.

Another thing I noticed on 2degree's is that TXT2PARK doesn't work (in Auckland)
