2degrees launches NZ’s first ever ‘all you can eat’ mobile plan for individual users

New ‘0 cent’ plan includes all standard national calls for one monthly fee of $149, no contract required

2degrees is taking the initiative on bringing down the cost of mobile for high-use consumers with the launch of the first ever monthly plan for single users that covers all national mobile and landline calls for one monthly fee with no contract required.

The fixed plan, available to the first 10,000 customers who join before 31 January 2011, costs just $149 per month and ensures that users pay zero cents per minute to call any standard mobile or landline in New Zealand.

Larrie Moore, Chief Marketing Officer for 2degrees, says that the company is proud to be the first to bring such an all-encompassing plan to the New Zealand market – a game-changing move for the mobile industry in NZ, and great news for people who use their mobile a lot.

“Plans like this have been available to mobile users in overseas markets, but due to lack of competition in the NZ market, this is the first time New Zealand’s high mobile users have been able to access comparable value ” said Mr Moore.

“Our research shows that more than 200,000 New Zealanders are paying more than $150 per month for their mobile phone usage. There’s no excuse for this anymore. Sole business operators especially, who routinely rack up a huge monthly bill for their mobile phone calling as part of their job, will find this new plan to be a God-send,” says Mr Moore.

“This plan takes the worry out of having to make a call. You can get on with your life, concentrate on the productivity of your business, secure in the knowledge that all your calls are covered.  Now you don’t have to think about who you’re calling, what network they are on, and how much your mobile might be costing you. You might even want to reconsider your need for a landline phone.”

In recognition of the increasingly sophisticated needs of the high end mobile user, many of whom are using smartphones and have a need for mobile internet access on the run, the ‘0 cent’ plan also includes 250mb of data as well as 1000 texts.

“This is about 2degrees continuing to bring smart, simple products to the New Zealand market and great value to high-end consumers, who till now needed to be hooked into a contract to try and get some value out of their mobile phone usage.”

Consumers can access the plan today by going online to www.2degreesmobile.co.nz, at a 2degrees stores and leading retailers or via dealers Talk Mobile and Choice Mobile.

That's incredible! Well Done 2degrees - AGAIN!

Shame on you VF and Telecom!

Me thinks this might really stir up the landscape - even if it is limited to the first 10,000 who dash to it... can't see it still being available come Jan 31st!

I vote for a plan with unlimited data too. I know that won't happen though.

From the press release:
"Sole business operators especially, who routinely rack up a huge monthly bill for their mobile phone calling as part of their job, will find this new plan to be a God-send,? says Mr Moore. "

and then the fair use policy states:
http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/fairusepolicy

"In no case does any Service allow for activities aimed at making profit "

what are sole business owners doing if not engaged in activities aimed at making a profit?

Don't be so "special" about it. They probably mean you can't use it ro rack up a large number of SMS for competitions ;)

haha,  probably (although voice minutes in this case).

It does mean that, unless the fair usage kicks in at a smidge over 1000 mins, they are pricing at below MTR rates though, which is interesting (thinking of the Vodafone 200 on-net mins for $12 plan the comcom had a fit at for being anticompetitive).

And I hear today that ComCom isn't pursuing MTR's since VF and 2deg reached some agreement.

Wonder if that is in anyway related to this???

Think SIM boxes connected to PABXs...

With respect to MTRs, these are any net minutes, not on-net (lock in) minutes so the issue with the Comcom does not arise.
