2degrees will work fine they have both GSM and 3G networks.
Out of interest, what kind of tracker is it, and where will you be using it?

Do you have to specify what you want to use or does all 2 degrees use both gsm and 3g,, I have been told that what we have is 3g and it does not work.

2degree's sims will roam onto vodafones GSM network when outside their network, im pretty sure 2ds towers also do GSM, so it should work fine.

2degrees SIMs work on whatever network (2G/3G) the device supports and is available at the time. 2degrees has 2G and 3G on all their sites, and you will roaming on the VF network (similarly using their 2G/3G as applicable) outside the 2degrees coverage areas.

So, no you don't have to specify anything. If your device is 2G only then you will get 2degrees 2G service *everywhere* (using either 2degrees towers in their coverage, or automatically using VF towers outside 2degrees coverage).

Sounds like a handy little device btw. What kind of price are they?

Remember you'd have to top up (via 'Your 2degrees' online or from another 2degrees phone) minimum $20 every 12 months to keep the prepay account active.

Be aware that the SIM needs to be topped up once a year otherwise the credit will expire and the SIM will become de-activated. This catches a few people out that use SIMs for this reason.

There should be a way to have an automatic type payment setup to prevent this.

It would be great if they had automatic annual topups for little used SIMs. Auto Top Up is no good if it never gets down below $2.50 and Monthly Auto Top Ups are minimum $20 = $240 a year, probably not ideal either. Would something like this go through $20 a year~= 20 texts per month?

Vodafone which seem to be the only sim card that will work in this unit charge 12 cents per text if you convert to simple prepay, from supa prepay,,, simple prepay only needs top up once per year, , as supa prepay text are 20 cents each and require a top up every month.

It will depend on what set up you require.. as the unit will set boundarys that your vehicle cant go out of, it can send a message when the vehicle exeeds a certain speed,, and numerous other things if they are set up.

For normal use, you will spend $1.20 worth of texts, out of your initial $20, to set it up and play with it, the other $ 18.80 will sit there and do nothing, unless you take the card out and use it in your phone. I suppose you would have to put a dollar in it once per year and also fork out 12 cents if your Classic Car, got stolen. Or 12 cents to find out where your kids are in your car.

A very good point, I may have to get back to the supplier on that, as I have tried all the plugs that come with the unit, and the dog is getting a worried look on his face. i think the dog will have to rely on the battery,!
