Folks, I was invited to attend a 2degrees event in Auckland, this 22nd March. I don't have a complete picture yet, but it will be some business update and more about trends.

I might have some time to talk to 2degrees CEO Eric Hertz. Post questions here if you want me to ask something, or just wildly speculate, as you are probably going to do anyway...

How many customers do they have?

Given their complaints about on/off net differentials, do they plan to get rid of their own differentials (on 'top up and get')?

Where are they going to roll out their network next?

Remember folks, regarding the Q&A, seeing this an opportunity to ask the CEO I am not sure we get to specific product (handsets announcements). This is more about strategy and directions...

Although if they ever had an Apple deal in the works I am sure that 1) it would be at CEO level and 2) no one would know outside the company until it was on. Obviously not the case here.

As for the speculation, then go for it...

Would 2Degrees consider getting into the landline business or do they see that as a waste of time/money as mobile is the future?

Insider secret: 2degrees have purchased 97% of Google (the remaining 3% or $54 bajillion is still owned by Sergei), and successfully sued for an injunction against iPhone & iPad imports to New Zealand on the basis that they infringe upon Google's (now, 2degrees') patented Obvious(TM) technology.

Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone I told you!

I'm keen to know where and when their data network is going to be extended to. I've heard Hamilton and Tauranga will be next, but keen to know when this may be. When do they foresee having coverage for the whole of New Zealand with their data network?

2degrees to launch ipad2 in New Zealand

Following the publically embarrassing fiasco of a product launch by vodafone, apple have awarded the ipad2 product launch to rival operator, new entrant 2 degrees mobile.

Leading technology journalists have received invitations to attend the launch, presumably to divert the media attention from the impeding fracas that will be expected from mutinous queue sitters adjacent to vodafone shops

Please note this article should be satirically postdated

Can we ask when they will offer a family plan?... Can offer them 4 connections once they have a on-net unlimited calling offer.

You don't want to share what information they were giving that isn't available on their website?

Well apparently if you have multiple numbers under an account they can all call each for free a bit like the plans that Vodafone and Telecom offer business customers. But he said there was no cost associated with this which is nothing at all like Telecom/Vodafone's offering.

I was looking at getting:
1x Unlimited calling plan
3x 60min plans
