I recently swapped from Slingshot to orcon because some of my emails from home were not getting thru our work firewall at work. Our IT told me that it was because Slingshot was listed on the email filter used by Mail Marshall.

I rang Slingshot to check this and they basically gave me the "tough..its too hard to sort" response. Upshot I left and went to orcon.

Unfortunately not only is Orcan sloooooow at times but I lost the best feature that Slingshot had - free off peak downloads(it does not come off the data allowance).

I have decided that staying with orcon is not really worthwhile and wonder if there is another ISP who offers free offpeak data and if so what they are like on the other fronts?

I know I could (should) ferret this out myself but figured it is easier to ask here- although given this is an Orcon sub forum there may not be anyone with the necessary knowledge reading this.

Since you seems to be hopping email addresses anyway, you could always go back to Slingshot and use Gmail/Hotmail/etc email address or get your own domain+email adress and use google apps or other email service.

...IIRC you'd get to keep your orcon email address when you leave anyway.

Yeah I could do that but I already have a Domain name that I will want to use so Gmail is not going to work for me.

It also gartes to have to go back to Slingshot after their attitude - it was not the most professional that I have expereinced. they just could not care less which was a pity as otherwise it was all OK

You can use google for domains/apps to host your email for your domain. See http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html http://lifehacker.com/5391537/trick-out-google-apps-for-your-domain

You just point your MX records to googles servers and setup a google apps account for it and bam, your email is hosted there.
